Last weekend

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

We invited Lori’s family over for a cookout on Saturday, and of course it rained.  But whatever, we still had fun, and having company over means we clean our house so yay for that.

Lori hand pattied burgers and cooked them on our griddle inside, and daniel microwaved his veggie dogs (because he’s stubborn).  After dinner we played baulderdash and learned that Lori’s family is fascinated by the word “turd”, which makes the game easier since the real answers have never used that word.  We also found out Xander is allergic to cats after his eye started swelling and the back of his knees turned red, which sucks for him since he had fun playing with the cats, but also for us because they had to leave early.

This weekend we’re inviting Daniel’s family over which means our house will stay clean.  Yay!

Hall and Oates and drama

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Today we shot a wedding, Hannah and Brent.  It was laid back and nice, not stressful at all, and we were out of there by 5:30 and on our way to Chastain for Hall and Oates.   It was our first time at Chastain, and we knew it was open air and we knew it was supposed to rain, but it’s Hall and Oates.

The concert was great, a total blast, and we got soaked, a total non-blast.   Maybe the rain brings out the crazy in people.  Or maybe it was the wine.  The group sitting next to us started throwing food at people a couple rows in front because they were standing up and blocking the view.  And then a lady in the row in front of us was mad at the people on the other side of us because they were calling her names or something, so she took her umbrella and held it out to block their view, and they almost got in a fist fight.  And then Hall and Oates played Rich Girl and everything was fine.  They did two encore’s.  Which we both agree is absurd.  If “Kiss is on my List”, “I Can’t go for That”, and “Private Eyes” are your encore then it was definitely planned, ’cause you can’t not play those.  Absurd.

We live somewhere else now

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

We’ve officially moved, again.  This is the fourth place we’ve lived together in the last three years I think, which is really crazy now that I’ve said it.  But this one is different because it’s not an apartment.  Get ready for this one, we’ve bought a house.  Yep.  And it’s a nice one too.  New appliances, new furnace, new roof, new deck.  There’s only been a few tweaks to make so far.  Like replacing the doorbell that doesn’t ding (it only donged), and adjusting a door plate so the bathroom door will shut and lock now.

Pretty soon (not sure when we can do it yet) we’ll be having a party and inviting everybody over to see it.  Hope you guys can come!

We’ll post pictures soon, as soon as we unpack the box with the right USB cable in it.  Plus everything is a gigantic mess at the moment and we’d rather show you what it looks like when stuff is put up.

80’s Prom

prom10

Saturday we went to Prom, WOO-HOO!  It was Daniel’s first prom experience, and not exactly what a High School prom is like (we hope).  We were the Prom Photographers for the evening, $10 for 5 poses on a CD by the end of the night.  Not just poses, but cheesy, awkward, uncomfortable poses, as if you weren’t married to your date and you’d never really held hands before.  People loved it!  So many people that we actually broke even and made a little bit of scratch that we were then able to go out fancy for Valentines Day!

Just about everyone there was dressed the part, except for a group of people that looked like they just came from a wedding where the bride convinced the guys that “Pink is the new gray”, or she got them sloshed enough that they didn’t care they were wearing pink vests.  Because they were definitely partying before they even got in the building.

Next time we go to prom we have to go for prom.  Even though it was fun and great to work, it wasn’t a real prom experience, and Daniel needs one of those.

Saints Win!

Daniel’s team won the Superbowl!  Yay for the Saints.

Superbowl time again

superbowl01

This year Lori picked the Colts, so Daniel has the Saints. We’ve each won one in the past two years. And according to everybody that doesn’t live where the Saints are from, Lori is going to take it this year. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Flight of the Conchords is stuck in our heads

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

We’ve been watching Flight of the Conchords lately.  It started with Season 2 that Lori wonderfully brought home one day, just out of the blue.  And once that ran out we had to get our fix from season 1 since we haven’t seen all of them.  It was a few days ago that we say the Leggy Blonde episode, but it’s been stuck in our heads all day today.   It’s Lori’s favorite so far, and here it is . . .

No house :(

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

The bank (They own the house we wanted . . . still want) decided not to take our offer, instead going with someone else. That stinks! Somebody just got a house for somewhere under $100,000 less than it’s worth and it wasn’t us.

Our agent says there are more fish in the sea, but we aren’t seeing ’em. Even with all of the fancy sonar (website with a map of all the houses we can afford) there is nothing. We would have better luck if we were on one of those tv shows where they look for houses, because then people would see how pitiful we are and send us money.

House Hunting

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

For the past few months we’ve been looking at houses with our awesome agent Tina.  Our lease is up at our apartment (we’re moving to month-to-month now) so we’re taking the oportunity to move on.  We’d like more room, bathroms, and privacy – like being loud without disturbing other people.

Well we’ve found one.  It took looking at a lot of bad ones but this one is great!  It’s priced well and fits our needs: plenty of rooms, lots of bathrooms, big kitchen, backyard for a pool, and an unfinished basement big enough for a putt-putt course!  Right now we’re getting with the bank about the loan paperwork so we can put in a bid tomorrow.  Everyone cross your fingers that nobody else has found this beaut, and we’re the only ones bidding!
